WANT MORE MONEY FOR OUR STUDENTS? |
Did You Know?
In 1999 the sales tax share for each student in our county was
$293, this is an increase of 11% over 1998 when their share was $265. With your
help we kept this trend going and made it well over $300 per student in 2000,
2001 and 2002. For the first month of 2003 our sales tax revenue was up
7.34% over January 2002, that is something to be proud of, it appears our 'Shop
Carroll County First' campaign HAS made a difference!
But,,, I Wont Make Any Difference!
YES YOU WILL!... For every dollar
spent in the county our schools receive their share through local sales taxes
collected for local education. For every dollar spent on goods and services
outside of Carroll County the tax revenue goes to support other schools,
students and the salaries of their teachers.
The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce and the businesses of our county
want to ask you to shop locally when you can and to help keep those much needed
tax dollars working for OUR schools and students.
In 1999 the businesses of our county generated $1,889,132 from sales
taxes designated for the use in education. This was then divided equally among
the 6447 students in our county's school systems for a total of $293 per
student. The actual figures for 2002 are being compiled and will be available
soon, but from preliminary accounts we are well above $300 per student at this
time. THANKS, CARROLL COUNTY SHOPPERS!
Do You Realize?
That the businesses of our county donate more than a half
million dollars per year to the support of our schools and its student related
functions. This does not include taxes of any kind, just donations freely given.
When you shop Carroll County you help keep these businesses in business and also
help provide jobs for the people of your county. We ask that you buy locally at
every chance and support the people that help support your school age children.
