Construction-Time Table |
We have not received an exact time table on the
construction as yet.
Weather permitting, some of the initial phases of construction will start in the
Spring of 2003 this will include the purchasing of land and the relocation of
TVA power lines, the drilling of deep wells and the installation of electrical
service for the wells. Landowners and homeowners in the impacted area will
have ample time to move or relocate buildings and personal property before the
lake bed will start to fill with water. Several thousand cubic yards of dirt
will be moved in from surrounding hillsides to build the near half-mile long
levee for the dam, so as you can see this will be quite a long-term project from
start to finish. Estimated time for the completion of the construction phase
will be approximately two years with another two years to fill and stock the
lake for fishing. There will be boating and skiing recreation available soon
after the initial filling of the lake but it will be a while before the lake
will grow fish to reach the creel-limit size for harvesting.
Public access to the lake will be via dedicated roadways and boat-ramps, picnicking and camping areas will be created in designated areas so as not to impede upon lake-landowners personal property. Access to the lake through someone's private driveway or yard will not be allowed without their personal permission. There will be a 50 foot easement all around the lake that will be controlled by The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA). The cost to the citizens of Carroll County will be none for the TWRA to provide the governing of the lake once it is built. Lake Access Permits will be sold as 'One-Day Permits' and 'Yearly Permits', cost has not yet been established but will be in accordance with other TWRA operated lakes in the area, such as Beech Lake and Pine Lake near Lexington, TN.
Check back soon, for updated info on the lake project.
