Carroll County has many small communities and unincorporated towns that are home to some of our very important citizens. In the past some our country's political pioneers have lived and worked in these small communities. People such as former Governor Alvin Hawkins
(1881 to 1883) was raised near McLemoresville and Honorable Gordon Browning, twice former governor was born near Atwood.
